I ran a 5k on New Year’s Day. Up until 1/1/12 my 5k times were as follows:
29:31 First 5k (May 22, 2011)
27:13 Second 5k (September 17, 2011)
Drum roll please……3rd 5k= 26:41 (technically it was 26:40.72…but whatevs)
Ok, so I only beat my time by 30 seconds give or take, but I beat it. And its nearly 3 minutes better than my May 5k, right? I really was shooting for a 25:30. When I passed the first mile I saw my time was 8:12. I felt good about running about an 8 minute mile. By the time I past mile 2, the time read around 16:45 (I cant remember exactly). I started to really lose my pace after that, clearly. And who creeps up to past by me right before the finish line? My boyfriend, Bob, who I practically had to beg to run this race. Bob is NOT a runner. He’s one bad ass crossfitter all around, so of course his mantra is to not only do what you’re good at. This was a challege for him so I’m super proud he finished and finished before me (26:37). I encourage everyone to try to run a 5k. Work on your tabata sprints in the meantime…and enjoy these photos.

Me, getting ready to cross the finish line

Bob, crossing the finish line, me eating his dust.
That my headphones blocking my precious face. Yes, my ipod was hanging out in my bra. I need an arm strap, damnit.
This was my sweet self-written bib. My mom showed up for this race (thanks, Mom) so I did a lil sumthin sumthin for ma’dukes.

They gave us this sweet medal… its a fricken wine stopper.
This isn’t bad for a “post race” photo.
Pre-race photo. I wrote “Bob the Body” on Bob’s bib. LOL People must have thought he was such an egotistical jerk. Sometimes I just can’t help myself.
Another pre-race shot.
I think I’ll try to run another 5k come spring. Until then, metcons, mobility, gymnastics, strength training.
